The Tuvalu Coastal Adaptation Project (TCAP), a Green Climate Fund (GCF) project implemented by UN Development Programme (UNDP). TCAP’s overall objective is to reduce the vulnerability of three islands in Tuvalu to coastal inundation and erosion, namely Nanumea, Nanumaga, and Funafuti.
The TCAP involves the construction of coastal protection infrastructure at these three locations to reduce inundation as well as reducing coastal erosion. The protection works will include hard and soft structures for Nanumea, Nanumaga and Funafuti. An important requirement of this project is to address the need for an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) study highlighting measures to minimise and mitigate environmental and social impacts for capital works at the identified three TCAP sites.
